The story begins with the iconic 110 Folding Hunter, a knife that became a common sight on the belts of sailors in the Navy. Its popularity, however, led to an unexpected incident when a pair of soldiers used the knife during a fight, prompting the captain to set restrictions on blade lengths. Since the 110 exceeded the new limit, Buck Knives responded by designing the Ranger, a slightly smaller version that retained the same reliability and utility. Another enduring classic is the 112, which first appeared in the 1960s and continues to honor tradition with its genuine ebony hardwood handle.
